We’ve moved! Find out more about DJHC’s new home…

It’s exciting times ahead for David J. Higgins Consulting. The company is expanding rapidly with new team members and key directorial appointments, not to mention some significant new projects. With so much on the horizon, it was time for us to embark on a small project of our own and move our premises to Gatcombe House, Portsmouth.

We think that our new offices are fitting considering DJHC’s ambitious new era. Located in a Grade II listed building just a stone’s throw from the lush greenery of the park on Copnor Road, we’re excited to welcome our clients and collaborators to our new home. Here’s a little more about where we’ll be based from here on in.

The history of Gatcombe House

Portsmouth is famed for its naval history. Today, some of the most famous vessels in British history are docked at the town’s port, including Lord Nelson’s flagship from the Battle of Trafalgar, the HMS Victory, and the remains of Henry VIII’s ill-fated Mary Rose. The city is also home to the Royal Naval Museum.

Gatcombe House is steeped in Portsmouth’s naval history. Built in 1780, this impressive manor house was first used as the Garrison Commanders’ residence before it was converted into an Officers’ Mess. The Army vacated the manor in 1973 and it was left vacant for over a decade.

The once impressive residence was left to decay into an almost derelict state. However, in the mid-1980s a local developer came to this historical treasure’s rescue. They lovingly restored the manor and converted it into their headquarters, where they remain today.

A dynamic new space

These same developers have now opened this beautiful building to other tenants. Now, Gatcombe House is home to other dynamic businesses in the construction industry, as well as colleagues in tech and training. We’re certainly looking forward to getting to know our new co-workers better and brokering fruitful connections.

Otherwise, Gatcombe offers excellent facilities for our team and our clients. With comfortable offices and spacious meeting rooms with charming original features, Gatcombe House is a great place to get down to business and exchange ideas. There’s outside space too; with a beautiful garden and outdoor seating area, there are plenty of spaces to take a break or get a change of scenery.

Plus, we’re easier than ever to reach – Gatcombe house is just 4 minutes from Junction 12 of the M27 and an hour from London. Alternatively, the public transport links are excellent, with bus stops located within two minutes walk and Hilsea train station also within walking distance.

We can’t wait to receive you at DJHC’s new premises. See you very soon!
